Our audio series "The Authors Read. We Listen." is an incredibly special one for us. Hatched in a NYC club during BEA week, this feature requires more work of the author than any of the ones that have come before. And that makes it all the more sweeter when you see, or rather, hear them read excerpts from their own novels, in their own voices, the way their stories were meant to be heard.
Today, John Minichillo reads us his short story The Last Pool Party, which debuted here in print form. John's first novel, The Snow Whale, a contemporary retelling of Moby-Dick, was an Independent Publisher Book Awards regional gold medalist for the West-Pacific, a Hey Small Press! best of 2011 selection, an Orion Book Prize notable, and a Chicago Center for Literature and Photography "best of the best" selection for 2012.
